World Bank statistics suggest that 50% of 319 Million people in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region are unemployed and 58% of them are under the age of 25 years old.

The Middle East and North Africa region needs to create 80 million jobs by 2020 just to maintain unemployment rates at their present levels.

100 million new jobs will be necessary to reduce unemployment to more sustainable levels.

VOAY has a vision for the future and a determination to alter these statistics. Job creation therefore is critical to reviving the region's global competitiveness.

Employment creation through enterprise development is now recognized as a primary engine for future economic growth in the region as the formal wage sectors can no longer absorb the flood of new graduates of local school systems each year. In response, another equally important focus of Voice of Arab Youth is the development of entrepreneurial skills and small business enterprises. These are essential steps to providing employment, economic growth and stability in the region.

"Strong economic growth is essential to reduce poverty and improve living standards in the Arab world, as well as tackle the region's greatest problem * unemployment."

"We must create 100 million more jobs by 2020 to reduce unemployment from their current levels. How are we going to create these jobs?"

“Entrepreneurs are catalysts of growth - marrying capital, innovation and skills to deliver economic growth and jobs.”

Mohamed Ali Alabbar
